Types of International Security Jobs
Security services have been a part of our daily life already. Everywhere we go, we would not fail to see a security guard. Because of the
demand for security guards are getting global, many countries abroad begin to provide international security jobs to
meet that demand.
The industry of security services expands continuously and with that expansion carries diversification of its class. Security guards are no
longer considered as plain security guards. They are now divided in several types depending on the function they perform or status that they
hold.
Formerly, a security guard may only be classified as armed or unarmed. The former is the one authorized by the state to carry firearms in
exercise of his duty, while the latter is allowed to carry non-deadly weapons only.
One of the major reclassification of security guards that took place is the distinction between local security guards and international
security guards. Local security guards are those locals who are hired as guards in their national country. On the other hand, international
security guards are those security guards that obtained international security employment abroad. This classification arose due to the opening of
the foreign countries to the non-residents of security work abroad.
The types of security guards have now become more specific. Some of the types of available security jobs abroad are as follows:
Proprietary
They may also be addressed as in-house guards. They are basically security guards that are personally hired by the company as their private
security guard. They were formerly called as works police.
Non-proprietary These are security guards not directly hired by the company. They are hired through a recruitment agency
that provides manpower resources to the company. As a rule, they are regarded as employees of the recruitment agency and not of the company.
Contract Contract security guards are those working for a private security company which protects many locations.
Private Patrol Officers
They are vehicle patrol officers that protect multiple client premises.
Armored Car Guards They are uniformed security guards who protect valuables and money while in transit.
Casino Surveillance
They are sometimes addressed as gaming investigators. These security guards work on casinos, where part of their duties is to protect patrons and
protect the casino from any attempt of cheating or stealing.
Bodyguard
This refers to a security guard whose primary duty is to protect a specific private person from any bodily harm.
Bouncers
These are security guards that are usually employed to night clubs and bars to protect its customers and maintain peace and
order.
