Qualification for Security Guards Jobs
A security guard job is considered to be a job imbued with public interest since its primary duties involves maintaining the safety of
persons and their property. By the nature of his position, he enjoys a certain degree of power over the people within the vicinity of his
jurisdiction. He may legally effect some restraint to other person’s rights if the circumstances shall force him to do so. It is also worthy of
regard that security guard job is included to a small number of professions that allows to carry firearm or weapon as a tool in the exercise of
their duty.
Whether in local or international security employment, this profession is given high regard due to the fact that one of the major concerns of
every person is his security and safety. As result of this high demand for safety, international security jobs have been rising from almost every
part of the world. Together with the growth of the said demand is the increase of number of aspirants applying for security jobs abroad. Since a
great number of security work abroad is offered by foreign countries, and is matched by a great number of applicants whose main goal is to go
abroad instead resort to applying as international security guards, a stricter laws should be passed, or perhaps a treaty must be executed
implementing guidelines in employment of security guards and their qualifications.

Age of Majority
The profession of a security guard is imbued with national interest. The rights, duties, and obligations relating to the said job are serious
ones. Hence, it is improper to allow a minor to perform functions that only a responsible and properly trained adult may exercise.
Good Moral Character
This requirement mainly requires that a person who is seeking to be a security must have no criminal records. He must not have been convicted of
a crime, irrespective of whether it involves moral turpitude or not.
Able to read and write Security guards are employed in every sector of a work place. Their responsibilities vary widely,
depending upon what they're hired to do. Other functions of a security guard may range from a simple recording to filing of a complaint. Thus, a
security guard must know how to read and right.
Not a drug abuser
This requirement is just a recently added requirement for some country. There is no such requirement before and an aspirant may become a security
guard without having to undergo drug testing. However, because of the rampant crimes committed due to drug use, almost all countries currently
requires that any prospective security guard, before being allowed by the state to work, should pass the drug test.
Pass Classroom Training A certain degree of danger is implicit in their job duties. They acceptance of the job carries
with it the assumption of risk in the performance of their duties. Because of this, before a person may be allowed to become a security guard, he
must be trained on every aspect of his job.
License
All security guards must have a license or permit. It is an authority from the state allowing them to exercise their functions as security
guards. Since the job may sometimes require carrying of firearms, it is only proper that the State took some precautionary steps in regulating
who among the security guards are fit for the said profession.
